Building Interior Decorating of Mercedes Benz of Oakland Oakland, CA by MWA Architects. MWA transformed this former auto parts store into an elegant new automobile showroom for an adjacent Mercedes Benz dealership.
The most distinctive feature of this concrete 1930s building is its graceful, barrel vaulted wood ceiling. Light and air permeate our design.
We accentuated the ceiling’s rhythm with a simple, striped tile pattern for the floor. A curved ramp links the remodeled upper showroom with the new main floor.
As the floor runs up the ramp encircling the showroom’s reception desk, individual tiles have been hand-cut into a radial pattern. This subtle detail echoes the craftsmanship of the cars displayed in the showroom.
