Interior Decorating of Quesada Mexican Grill by Bortolotto Architects. No sombreros. Not even in the drinks. Our challenge was to create the first of a chain for an inviting Mexican QSR with a southwest flavour but without the clichés.
One look had to a customer that the food was good, but not overpriced. We also had to design for a narrow deep space with to accommodate counter service. Lunch and evening rushes often found patrons lining up.
This can clog up action and spoil meal if line-standers are allowed to look over the shoulder of diners. Our solution was to place the seating area at the front where it would catch the light and the eyes of passers by.
A corridor along the side of the restaurant, leads patrons into the back, along the counter where they get and pay for food and then into the dining area. This massive red sidewall became a focal point of the décor, adding just the right spice.
